Biography

Dr. Huang is an assistant professor of environmental and health sciences at Spelman. Prior to coming to Spelman, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Huang received his Ph. D. and M.S. in atmospheric sciences from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and a B. Eng. in remote sensing science and technology from Wuhan University in China.

Dr. Huang enjoys teaching and learning with students. His goal is to create an environment that allows students to question and ponder the world independently. He believes that critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and quantitative analysis are important tools students need in order to know how to think rather than simply accepting what they are taught.

His primary research interests are in the field of air quality, atmospheric chemistry, remote sensing, climate sciences, numerical modeling and data science techniques. His research helps us understand the physical and chemical processes of air pollutions and their impact on human health under the environment of global changing.
